I agree, thanks very much to the OP for pointing us to the mystical gdk/gtk libraries, which solve the empty pane problem.
But this is not a solution! I mean, come on: downloading a binary blob of libraries, with no source code and no explanation of where they came from or why, and installing them for all of your users to run whenever they start Notes?
This bug is serious and makes Notes almost unusable on 64-bit Linux hosts. IBM needs to fix the problem! The mystical downloadable fix causes some other visual problems on my host, and anyway, what happens when IBM issues an update and this fix no longer works? It is not a solution.
And try as I might, I can't find any place on this site to file a bug report about this serious problem! Am I missing something? Can someone point me to it? If not, I have to spend some quality time on the phone with IBM.
